A self-reflective memoir of activist and noted teen humanitarian Mansoor Alam. The stories revolve greatly around the September 11th attacks and the life changing events that would follow. Alam chronicles his childhood through stories and memories of growing up - from being forced to eat grass, to having dinner at the State Department. Please note that all profits will go directly to The Enough Foundation which is currently working to build a school in Pakistan.

There are many, many memoirs out there. I hesitate to call this a memoir because the life of this author, in moving so quickly, seems to have made it already out of date. The book reads not so much as the author retelling stories, but teling stories with a very reflective and sober lens. The language of the book is simple - which is almost a shame because if you go online and read some of Alam's shorter pieces of writing, he is far more poetic and eloquent in his words. One of these shorter pieces was released as the opening to a second book, in which I hope he sticks closely to his more natural way of writing.Though the book is centered around 9/11, you'll come to see that the true issue this book deals with is self-transformation - changing yourself for the better. It is a most humbling book - you WILL finish the book and say "whoa". Sure he is no Hemingway, but the sobriety of his writing lends you to realize he is mature beyond his age.
Also, the main difference between the revised edition and the original addition seems to be in the dedication, but I could be wrong.

Ten Years Older edition by Mansoor Alam Children eBooks Reviews
I bought this book early through the original website. It's a quick read even though its about 220 pages. You can definitely tell Alam is not an "author" but his voice seems very authentic and unaltered by editors, etc. A very revealing book that in my opinion teachers/parents and especially kids from ages 12 on should read. The book can be humorous at times, sad , but above all it really does convey a powerful message.
Kudos ! CT is proud to call you one of our own.
